Laser Body Hair Removal

Ellen Daniels

Laser Body Hair Removal is growing rapidy in popularity as menand women become more conscious of their body image. It isestimated that about one million Americans used laser treatmentto remove body hair in 2003; this number has doubled since then.Interestingly, women outnumber men in seeking this treatment.

Laser treatment can be used to get rid of the unwanted hair onthe face, lips, chin, legs, arms, back, underarm, shoulders, chest, neck, and bikini line. It is carried out by a qualifiedcosmetic surgeon in a hospital or medical facility on an outpatient basis, and doesn’t normally require an anesthetic.

The process begins by shaving the treatment area. If the patienthas dark skin, the cosmetic professional applies a bleachingcream to facilitate better body hair removal results. Once thetreatment area has been shaved and cleaned, a local anestheticmay be administered to mitigate any discomfort to the patientduring the procedure. But this may not always be necessary.

The surgeon uses a special instrument to deliver pulses of lightinto the hair follicle. The heat emitted from the laser damagesthe follicles and arrests hair development. The treatment maytake an hour or so depending upon the area to be treated. Thetreatment time and intensity of the laser beam depends on thedensity and color of the body hair and the body surface fromwhich the hair is to be removed.

The skin may become red immediately after the treatment.Sometimes, skin discoloration or burning may occur. After thelaser body hair removal treatment, patients should avoidexposing the treated area to the sun. If it is unavoidable, asun cream should be applied.

The areas of unwanted hair on women differ from that of men.Women are most keen to remove hair from lips, chin, bikini linearea and the legs. Men use laser to remove hair from eyebrows, ears, neck, chest and back. The technique is especiallypreferred to remove hair from the back. Most men find back hairembarrassing, but have very few viable options to remove them. They have to depend on someone else if they have to shave orapply depilatory creams. The laser hair treatment is thereforethe most convenient. It is permanent also.

In the case of leg hair, use of depilatory creams, shaving orwaxing can be undertaken by both en and women but they can betedious. Moreover, it may become necessary for many people toshave their legs daily to keep them smooth. Waxing legs isn’t aspainful as waxing other areas such as bikini line, but it isvery expensive.

New salon locationAs many of our customers may have known by now that the Mosman Cache Shopping Court were sold to a fund manager FKP recently, in December 2007. FKP now has plan to renovate the Mosman Cache and remodel the whole building. FKP had given notice and asked all the centre’s business tennants to vacate the building within 3 months. That 3 months has finally came to an end and so Manhattan Nails, like other tenants will have to move.

We have not find an “ideal” place for our nail salon, but this place will have to do. We are on schedule to relocate to our Mosman store to the new premise in August 2008.

New salon location

Suite 1 / 696 Military Road, just 4 doors away from our current location in the Mosman Cache. It is on first floor, above Vreelands fashion store and John McEvoy Real Estate.
